Once per game, the Essence Thief can steal the role of another player. To win, the Essence Thief must keep that role until the end of the game in addition to any other win conditions the stolen role has.

The victim of an Essence Thief becomes Displaced and will be attempting to regain their role from the Essence Thief.

This role is only used in speed games.

Useful Notes

  • When an Essence Thief is successful, they become the stolen role, including gaining any night chats or win conditions associated with the role.
  • An Essence Thief cannot steal a role from a player who is night immune.
  • If the role has a limited use ability (such as a militia), the Essence Thief will have all the uses fully available even if the target has used their ability already.
  • If they are caught by the Displaced, the Essence Thief will revert back to normal and die causing them to lose the game.
  • If the game ends and the Essence Thief has not used their ability, they lose the game.
