The alignment of a player determines to which team they belong and therefore also determines their primary win condition. The alignment of a player may differ from their parity contribution in some cases and their primary win condition may also be only one of multiple win conditions certain roles and factions have.
It is possible for players to change alignment during the game - e.g. being recruited into an evil faction.
