The Merchant is a neutral role whose Win Condition is to have the most coins of any living Merchant at the end of the game. Each night you have options of items to purchase, which you can then pass to players to earn coins. In addition you can visit a player each night to discover how many items that player is holding.

Role Text

You are a merchant. You are here to exploit the chaos and make your fortune.
Objectives
Have the most coins of any living merchant at the end of the game.
If all the merchants are dead at the end of the game, the Merchant that died the richest wins.
Special Abilities
You begin with 5 coins.
You will be presented with purchase options each night
You can pass any items you hold to other players to sell them and the receive the amount of coins denoted the next night.
If the item is passed back to you, you will lose some coins 'refunding' the purchase
In addition, you may also visit one player each night to find out how many items they have.
You count for village parity but do not need the village to win to meet your win conditions
You appear as Neutral to the Seer

Ability Messages

At the beginning of each night, if you are holding any items, you will receive the following message for each item:

You may sell your <Item Name> for X coin(s) to a village-aligned player, or Y to a non-village player

You will also get the following message informing you of how many coins you currently have:

You have X coin(s)

When you select an item to create, you receive the following message:

You have chosen <Item Name>

When you select a player to investigate how many items they have, you will receive the following message:

Tonight you will check how many items <Avatar Name> has

In the morning, you will receive the following message informing you of the results of your check:

<Avatar Name> is carrying X item(s)

Useful Notes

  • If an item breaks the same time you try to pass the item, you still receive the money for passing the item.
